Can local schools become solar schools?
19 August 2008
How fantastic would it be for every school in our community to have the ability to generate their own clean power?
Jenny Macklin MP, Member for Jagajaga, today encouraged local schools to apply for energy saving appliances such as solar panels as part of the Rudd Government’s $480 million National Solar Schools Program.
“The National Solar Schools Program provides schools with an exciting opportunity to save energy, money and water by investing in a range of products – from solar panels to rain water tanks, insulation to awnings.”
“Schools can set an invaluable example for their students and the wider community by providing hands-on experience of the simple steps we can all take to do our bit for the environment and help tackle climate change.”
“I hope to see a solar panel on the roof of every school in our local community, showing our children what can be done to tackle climate change”
“I would encourage schools in our local community to visit the Federal Environment Department’s website to learn more about the program, and look at what might work best for their schools.”
