Funding for voulunteers of Banyule extended

23 July 2008

Volunteers of Banyule will be provided with over $53,000 as part of the Federal Government’s Volunteer Management Program.

‘Volunteers of Banyule play an essential role in our local community by helping connect people who want to volunteer with local organisations.’

MsBarbaraDixon, Manager of the Volunteers of Banyule, said she was very excited about the new possibilities created by this funding.

‘This funding will allow us to take the Volunteers of Banyule into new and exciting areas’, MsDixon said.

‘We will be able to initiate a program to link local business with not for profit organisations, allowing businesses to volunteer their professional skills’,

‘We will also be running monthly volunteer training programs as well as training for the managers of volunteers from our new offices in Heidelberg’,

JennyMacklin encouraged community members who are interested in volunteering to get in touch with the Volunteers of Banyule on 9458 3777 or visit www.volunteersofbanyule.org.au.

‘Volunteers come from across the community – the young and the old, people with disability, those from culturally diverse backgrounds – generously giving their time and support’ MsMacklin said.
