Nillumbik Groups recieve Volunteer Grants funding

8 December 2009

Three Nillumbik community organisations located in the electorate of Jagajaga will receive funding through the Federal Government’s Volunteer Grants Program.

The Glen Katherine Primary School Parents and Friends Association, the 1st Eltham North Scout Group and the Parents and the Friends of Our Lady Help of Christians Association will share in the funding announcement (full details overleaf).
Under the program, grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are provided to non-profit organisations to purchase small equipment items to assist their volunteers and contribute to reimbursing fuel costs incurred by volunteers in carrying out their voluntary work.
“This is terrific news for these Nillumbik organisations and for their volunteers that drive their day-to-day activities,” Ms Macklin said.
“Every day, Nillumbik volunteers are out in our local community, working tirelessly to help their organisation,”
“The Federal Government values the enormous contribution volunteers make in our community and this funding will ease the financial pressure on non-profit organisations and volunteers.” Ms Macklin said.
